The Indiana Dunes State Park consists of 2,182 acres of primordial, stunning, historical, and startlingly unique Hoosier landscape. It lies in Porter County and includes more than three miles of Lake Michigan's south coast, all of which provides a splendid beach. Eighteen hundred acres are wooded and contain the most diversified bionetwork of the Midwest. Other areas made up of peripatetic sand hills, unusual to the dunes region. A marquee on the beach provides shelter, bathhouses and a complete snack bar during the summer season.  Indiana Dunes State Park lies within this area and offers 3 miles of shoreline itself. Swimming, hiking, biking, camping, and even cross-country skiing in the winter time, are well-liked activities.
