San Antonio is a famed tourist destination. The jewel of the metropolis is the River Walk, which meanders through the downtown region. Lined with copious shops, bars, and restaurants, as well as the Arneson River Theater, this attraction is transformed into an imposing festival of lights during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, and is immersed with the local sounds of folkloric and flamenco music during the summer, chiefly during celebrations such as the Fiesta Noche del Rio. Also based along the River Walk is the recently restored Aztec on the River, the only existing exotic-themed movie palace in Texas.
