Oslo Munch Museum, Norway - Museum

Amusement Park, Art Gallery, Garden, Museum

On the south side of Oslo's Botanic Garden, at Tøyengate, the Munch Museum has a compilation of paintings, graphic art, drawings, watercolors and sculpture by Edvard Munch, Norway's greatest painter, representing roughly all the different phases of his art. Characteristic features of Munch's work are fantasies of life and death, Nordic melancholy and a spiritual sentiment for nature. The museum puts on particular exhibitions dedicated to particular aspects of the artist's work, and also participates in exhibitions of Munch's work in Norway and abroad. Attached to the museum are rooms for learning and research and a reinstatement department.
