Baba Budan Giri Hills, Chikmagalur, Karnataka - Mountain range
Also known as Dattagiri Hill Range, the mighty Baba Budan Giri Hill is the most popular and sacred mountain range in Chikmagalur. Perched at an elevation of about 1895 meters, the hill range is bestowed with several spots that beckon the tourists. The hill is known for a holy cave known as Inam Dattatreya Peetha which is a holy pilgrimage for Hindus and Muslims. The lofty hill ranges of Baba Budan Giri offer an excellent destination to enjoy trekking and hiking and bird watching. While trekking, the tourists can explore three caves which are said to have been sanctified by three siddhas. If lucky enough, one can also find a chance to see the rare ‘kurinji’ flower that blooms once in every 12 years.
