Thirumananjeri Temple, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu - A pilgrimage destination where the wedding festival of Lord Shiva and Parvati is performed
Located near a small town of Kuthala in the district of Thanjavur, Thirumananjeri Templeis a famous pilgrimage destination. It is believed that the wedding of Lord Shiva and Parvati took place at this place and hence named as Thirumananjeri as in Tamil, Thirumanam means wedding. A three day festival is held at the temple to celebrate the auspicious wedding of Lord Shiva. Special poojas are conducted here for the unmarried boys and girls and it is believed that after performing the poojas in the temple, the people would soon get married.
