Fair / Mela is for Reunion of Families

Fair or Mela is held during festivals. They are held separately for marketing the items of the local regions. The people will show their culture and tradition through the fairs. Most of the cultures are transferred to them from their ancestors. The fair may represent a festival, religion, myth, tradition or may be change of season. The people of the society need a lot of social activities to showcase their talents that brings good opportunity for these people and allow them to sell their handicrafts and eatables of whatever they prepared at home.

The Fair/Mela has its own meaning. This will help people to get rejuvenated mentally and physically. There are fairs to which people from all over the world will come. Such fairs will have a lot of attractions like the Dasara celebrations in Mysore. This is celebrated with a great pomp and show. The fair has occupied an important place in the mind of the people, since it has been introduced for a good time pass, but it has several meanings behind it.

This fair will help in the re-union of the families also. The people who are staying in the same place will not know the difference. But the people who come from far off places to meet their families will have a lot of emotional attachments with Fair/Mela. There are many types of enjoyment in these seasons such as they prepare some kind of traditional food. There are many festivals that have stood to mark the change of seasons like the Holi, Teej, Onam and Bihu. Some fairs or Mela, mark the harvest as the Pongal. The people take many natural things and see get involved in all the activities of the region. The fruits and flowers of that particular season are used for the fairs which helps the growers to get good money for their hardwork. The festivals also mark the change of seasons that helps people to enjoy the season. This will help the people who would have gone too far places from their home town and come back to brush-out their old memories. So the people will enjoy the feel of togetherness from such Melas.

There are many fairs that are celebrated in the name of Gurus or saints. This will be mainly religious. There are places in which such festivals are celebrated. People who are concerned with such fairs will gather together and pray to God before they start the fair. The celebration may be stereo type, but the enjoyment will be multiplied when the people join together. Some fairs are held only for marketing purpose. In such fairs, these people bring their hand-made crafts, may be artificial jewelries, embossing frames, zardosi designs, embroidery works, and antique pieces to showcase and sell them at right price.
