Kulhudhuffushi, Maldives - Kadhaa Mali- Famous for Folk-Dance
Kulhudhuffushi can be depicted as capital of ‘Haa Dhaalu Atoll’ administrative division. From the geographical point of view, it’s a segment of Thiladhummati Atoll on the northern side of Maldives. This isle is amongst the largest and most compactly populated isles in Maldives. The ‘cargo vessels’ and shark fishing are basic sources of income here. Kadhaa Mali is a famous folk-dance over here. Its performance gets initiated by beating of drums; alongside with a ‘Kadhaa’; which can be stated as an instrument consisting of copper plate and copper rod. Costumes go on to portray diverse styles of ghosts and evil spirits. Such evil spirits get mentioned as ‘Maali’.
