Travel Within Maldives

how-to-travel-within-Maldives

The main international airport in the Maldives is the Male International Airport situated on Hulhule Isle next to the capital Male. This airport serves an array of flights to Sri Lanka, Dubai, India, South-East Asia and Europe with many flights stopping in Colombo on the way. Gan Airport located on the southern atoll of Addu also has a flight to Milan in Italy numerous times a week. Departure taxes are normally included in your ticket.  Taxi boats convey tourists to and from the North and South Male atolls. A speedboat is a more costly and faster mode of transport than the Dhoni and is suggested for airport transfers to isle resorts that are within 20-30 minutes away. A speedboat can be pre-booked and is an exciting experience depending on the weather.

Another mode of transportation in Maldives is the sea plane ride. The sea plane ride is the most picturesque and fastest way to get to the isle resorts particularly those that are situated in the Northern most atolls and the southern atolls. Sea plane transfers are the best way to get a real picture of the isles of the Maldives. As you fly over the sea, you can see the true exquisiteness of The Maldives, with pockets of islands, stringed like gems on the turquoise ocean.
