The Lakshmi Narayan Temple is dedicated to the Hindu God Lakshminarayan. It is situated near the main entrance of the famous Ujjayanta Palace and was constructed more than 100 years ago by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya. An icon of Lord Krishna was installed in this divine tourist spot of Agartala around 50 years ago by Krishnananda Sevayet. Legends narrate the story of Lord Krishna whose life sport is closely related to the Bhagavata Tamal tree planted 35 years ago in front of the temple. The festival of Janmashtmi is celebrated with great fervour here every year.
