Extended over a vast area of 850 sq km, Kanchendzonga National Park is a must visit place for the wildlife lovers. The park is elevated at a varying height of about 1800 m to 8600 m and is one of the highest national parks in India. With the towering peaks of Mt. Kanchendzonga, the park offers a rich wilderness in form of a number of wild animal and bird species. Some of the common animals found here are snow leopards, Tibetan antelopes, Himalayan black bears, flying squirrels, red pandas, barking deer, wild asses, blue sheep, Himalayan Thar and many more. The birds spotted in the park include blood pheasants, osprey, snow pigeon, acer app, larigriffithi, schima app, satyr tragopan and Himalayan larch etc. Apart from wildlife, the national park is also home to some of the glaciers with the Zemu Glacier as the longest one.
