Sangachoeling Monastery, Pelling, Sikkim - The second oldest monastery in the Sikkim

Sangachoeling Monastery is the second oldest monastery in Sikkim and was built in 1695 by LhatsunNamkhaZigme. Literally means the ‘land of sacred spell’, the monastery is nestled amidst thick pine forest on a hill top. It houses a holy 300 years old Buddhist crematorium having the cremation of LhatsunNamkhaZigme. Though the monastery faced severe earthquakes but it remodeled and has maintained its aura of serenity and purity till date. It also offers a panoramic view of the snow clad Kangchendzonga Peak and countryside.
