Situated amidst the lush green mountains and 3124 feet from the sea level, Jyotiba Temple of Kolhapur is very famous religious place of Hindus. The temple adds a lot to a Hindu’s life as it is one of the 12 Jyotirlings. Therefore, it is the destination to be visited once in their lifetime. According to few legends, it is believed that the temple was constructed to show the sacred belief in Jyotiba, who killed demon Ratnasur. Jyotiba was supposed to be born on earth with an avatar of Lord Bhairav. The temple was originally constructed by Navajisaya in the year 1730 and it carries vibrant colors during the celebration of a huge fair on Chaitra Poornima i.e around April or May every year.
