Agastyamuni, elevated at a height of 1000m is located at a distance of 20km from Rudraprayag. It is one of the favorite destinations for the tourists in the state of Uttarakhand because of its religious significance. Located along the bank of the river Mandakini, the temple is named after the name of sage Agastya. It is believed that the sage has meditated here for almost a year. It isalso known as Agasteshwar Mahadev by the locals and is an excellent example of the beautiful architecture.During the festival of Baishaki a big fair takes place at the temple premises. People from far and near gather here to celebrate this festival of Baishaki. Besides being a place of religious importance, it is also a great spot for the tourists to involve themselves in fishing on the banks of river Mandakini.Another attraction of Agastyamuni is that it serves as a base to Pawan Hans helicopter services which are available to Kedarnath temple.
