The Crocodile Bank, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu - A crocodile and snake farm
The Crocodile Bank was set up by Romulus Whitaker to breed several species of African and Indian crocodiles and alligators in captivity and is located Just 14 kms from Mamallapuram. At this center one can find about 5000 crocodiles of 6 different species,alligators & other reptiles. They are bred in captivity and are kept in open and marshy enclosures. There is also a snake farm where anti venom is produced and it also hosts a regular venom extraction show. It is indeed a delight to find such different varieties of crocodile at one place and in such a huge number.
