Quba Mosque, Saudi Arabia - Mosque

Mosque

The Quba Mosque in the faraway locality of Medina in Saudi Arabia is the oldest mosque in the World. Its first stones were placed by the Islamic prophet Muhammad on his migration from the city of Mecca to Medina and the mosque was accomplished by his companions. Muhammad spent more than 20 nights in this mosque praying qasr - a short prayer, while waiting for Ali whose house was at the rear of this mosque. According to Islamic custom, offering two rakaʿāt of nafl prayers in the Quba Mosque is equivalent to performing one Umrah. Quba Masjid is the first mosque constructed in the history of Islam and was erected as soon as Muhammad arrived on the Hijra.
