MaharanaPratapSagar, also known as the Pong Dam Lake, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in McLeodganj. It was constructed in 1975 and covers an area of 12,561 sq km across the river Beas. The dam is built in the wetland zone of the Shivalik ranges and lures crowd of visitors to see the panoramic surroundings and lush greenery alongside the place. Blessed with rich flora and fauna, it is also declared as Ramsar Wetland. Apart from lush vegetation, the reservoir offers great opportunity to enjoy a wide array of activities including angling, fishing, bird watching and water sports.
