McLeodganj is a pretty charming and beautiful tourist destination situated in the upper Dharamsala in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The city got its name after Sir Donald Friell McLeod who was the former Governor of Punjab of British India. Snuggled amidst evergreen forests of pine deodar and rhododendron, the idyllic little town of McLeodganj is famed as the residence of the 14^th Dalai Lama. It is perched at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level and is referred to as a ‘minuscule Tibet in India’ that beckons a number of tourists and devotees to this charismatic Buddhist destination.
