Situated in Sriperumpudhur on the route between Chennai and Kanchipuram, Rajiv Gandhi famous memorialwas built up in the memory of Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of the country. It is the place where he was assassinated in the year 1991. It is also an important place and pilgrim centre for the Vaishnavites because it is the birth place of Saint Ramanujar who was a famous Vaishnavite philosopher and the founder of Vishisdadhvaidham.
