Chinnar wildlife Sanctuary is one of the major attractions for the tourists in Munnar. This wonderful sanctuary is situated only 60 kms away from Munnar in the Idukki district at the Munnar-Udumalpet road. This wildlife, covering an area of 90 sq.km, is worldwide famous for its outstanding view of deers, samba, hanuman langur, peacocks and elephants just standing over a tower of 200meters. Chinnar sanctuary plays the significant role as a shelter to rare Giant Grizzled Squirrel, hardly more than 200, found in India. The sanctuary is also the best choice for the trekking because of abundance of the deciduous forests.
