Agnitheertham, Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu - A sacred bathing place with 22 holy wells

Located just 100 meters from the sacred Ramanathaswamy Temple, Agnitheertham is a religious and calm place in the town. The water at this place is considered holy and hence is an ideal place for bathing. Several devotees also perform prayers at this place to honor their ancestors. According to mythology, it is the place where Lord Rama offered puja to Lord Shiva in order to get rid of the offence of killing Ravana, the grandson of Brahma. The place also houses 22 wells all having different taste and is considered to have medicinal properties.
