There are five major ponds or talabs in Ambala that add to the beauty and serenity of the city. But due to negligence, three of them have dried up. The most famous is the KajiyonkaTalab and the area around it was once inhabited by Muslim Khajis. This pond was named after their priest but now it is completely covered with mud with no water in it. Another one is KalalonkaTalab which was once used by the travelers of Grand Trunk road as a resting place. Besides, the Navrang Rai Talab is also a popular place which is known for its BavanDwadashiMela and is a site of religious importance.
