The climate of Ambala is characterized as semi- arid and continental with very hot summers and cold winters. Due to distance from the coast, the region doesn’t get full share of monsoon current. The best time to visit Ambala is from September to March when the climate is quite pleasant.
Summers in the city extend from March to June with quite hot and dry weather. The temperature can rise up to 45 degree C during extreme conditions and lowers down to 35 degree C. May is the hottest month of the year and a visit to the city during this time is quite uncomfortable.
The monsoon season begins from July and lasts till September. The rainfall is not very high due to its distance from the coastal areas and the level of humidity gets increased during monsoons. However the post monsoon season that varies between October and November is quite pleasant.
Winters in the city last from December to February with temperature ranging from 4 to 17 degree C. The winter season is quite cold and the temperature gradually decreases.
