Located in the district of Pathanamthitta, Kaviyoor is a wonderful tourist place to visit near Sabarimala. It is mainly famous for its Mahadeva Temple, dated back to the 10^th century and is considered to be one of the oldest temples in Kerala. The temple is adorned by Daruslpas that showcases the splendid architectural excellence of the state. Another interesting place to be visited in Kaviyoor is Thekekudi Cave Temple which is a marvelous rock cut temple built in the 8^th century. The temple houses some of the ancient stone sculptures with beautiful carved idols of Lord Shiva, Ganesha and Hanuman.
