Verinag is a beautiful spring nestled at a height of 1876 m at the foot of the Banibal Pass in the Pir Panjal range. The construction of this spring was started by Emperor Shah Jahan and later Jahangir renovated in 1620 by giving it an octagonal shape. A beautiful garden and pleasure house were also built nearby it and the building material for the construction was brought from Iran. The spring is believed to be a source of the Jhelum River and is said to have medicinal value. Surrounded with beautiful pine trees and blossoms, the spring of Verinag is a captivating attraction for the tourists near Gulmarg.
