Old Somnath Temple, Somnath, Gujarat - One of the most ancient temples dedicated to Lord Shiva
Situated in Prabhas Kshetra near Veraval on the shore of the Arabian Sea, this is the most ancient temple of Somnath that is also known as the Shrine Eternal. This famous temple enshrines the sacred Shivlings which is one of the 12 jyotirlings in India. This temple was originally built by the God Moon with gold and was dedicated to Lord Shiva. Due to its huge wealth and treasure, the temple got invaded by a number of foreign invaders. After seeing many ups and falls, it was finally reconstructed by Ahilyabai Holkar and since then, it has been alluring huge crowd of visitors with its glory and popularity.
