Al Hosn Palace, also universally well-known as the “Old Fort or the White Fort”, is the oldest structure in Abu Dhabi. The palace was constructed in 1793 as the home of the ruling family and the seat of government. The interior of the Al Hosn Palace has been refurbished and updated and is nowadays used by the Cultural Foundation to house the Center for Documentation and Research. The patio and the splendid overlay work over the chief northern gateway are noteworthy features. Within the citadel is a museum of traditional artifacts and historical snaps. Exhibits include a natural history sector featuring animal life from the desert, and historical section with displays of the history of Abu Dhabi in addition to earthenware and other artifacts. The loom contains an exhibit of weapons used all through history in Abu Dhabi.
