Haji Ali, Mumbai, Maharashtra - Religious belief and architectural grandeur

Mosque, Monuments

Haji Ali is a unique example of cultural and religious integrity of Mumbai. This magnificent structure houses both a mosque and a tomb. A wealthy Muslim Saint Haji Ali had built it in 1431. His body still lays in peace here. This rich merchant had changed his way of life when he returned from Mecca and today this structure inspires others to lead a life with peace and solidarity.

Haji Ali is situated in the middle of the sea, just off the coast of Worli. One can reach here during low tide. There is a narrow 500 yard long pathway leading one to the structure. The place is often very crowded during Thursdays and Fridays.
