Ciudad Real is situated in Campo de Calatrava; countryside subjugated by many hills, Ciudad Real is positioned in the southwestern part of the autonomous society of Castile-La Mancha. It offers a contemporary layout that has been able to uphold all the flavor of La Mancha. It is now Chief Township of its region. Ciudad Real is flanked by the rivers Guadiana and Jabalon. It is surrounded by the provinces of Cuenca, Albacete, Jaén, Córdoba, Badajoz, and Toledo. The place is also famous because it is also the home of Don Quixote, the “Knight of the rueful contanance”. The township of Ciudad Real was founded Alfonso X in 1255.
