Dedicated to Goddess chamunda, the Chamunda Devitemple is one of the most popular religious sites in the town of Chamba. It was built in the year 1762 by Raja Umed Singh at the top of the Shah Madar Hills. The temple houses various superbly carved flower motifs and pictures of animals on the walls and the ceiling. Besides, the beautiful wooden work and slated roof are also worth visiting. It also houses a mandap having exquisitely carved human figures and a fire pit. There is a votive bell at the entrance of the mandap on which Nagari inscription is written. Apart from its marvelous architecture, the temple also offers breathtaking views of the nearby Chamba valley and majestic hill ranges of the Himalayas. It is a must visit attraction in the town of Chamba.
