The holy tank of Ramkund is one of the most sacred places in Nashik which was built by Chitra Rao Khatarkar in 1696. It is believed that Lord Rama and Sita took bath her during their exile and hence a number of devotees take a dip in this tank and also immerse the ashes of their deceased relatives in the holy water of Ramkund so that the should would gain mukti or liberation. Located at the banks of River Godavari, this place also serves as an alluring picnic spot for the people of all ages.
