Portmeirion is a small resort on the west coast of Wales that with a flavor of Mediterranean in manifestation and is said to have been built on the theme of an Italian urban of Portofino by its designer, Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. The structural design and color scheme are quite distinct, and it has been generally referenced in admired traditions. The township of Portmeirion is in fact one big hotel, with the greater part of the buildings used as hotel accommodation or holiday cottages; or providing services like restaurants, cafes etc. The township is one of Wales's major tourist attractions and open to the public daily, of course, with charge upon admission.
