Mariamman Teppakulam, Madurai, Tamil Nadu - Scenic views and for calm and peace atmosphere
Mariamman Teppakulam is situated at 5kms from Meenakshi Temple and is great attraction in form of huge tank. It is quite amazing to notice that the area covered by the tank and garden situated on an island is approximately equal to the area of Meenakshi Temple. There is a mandappam inside the tank which has an image of Lord Vinayak. It was decided to build Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal and so land was dug out but as per some famous person, the place was declared as sacred and therefore, here tank was formed in place of palace. This water tank is linked with Vaigai River and water is supplied to different parts of the state. Not only this much, the site is also famous for famous festival of Madurai named Float festival!
