Rangamati, Bangladesh - River

Backwaters, Lakes

Rangamati, a popular place in Bangladesh is also known as "Lack City". The elongated village of Rangamati, 77km east of Chittagong, is wonderfully located over a series of isles in Kaptai Lake and is, flanking Cox’s Bazar, the place every Bangladeshi wants to spend their summer holidays. The township was initially laid out as an administrative hub and modern-day hill station in the 1960s, after the damming of the Karnaphuli River and though it has developed to cover a large area it hasn’t lost its small town vibe. Even so the real charisma of Rangamati lies not in the town itself but rather in the verdant, surging and lush surrounding countryside.
