KotBrahmari Temple, Kausani, Uttarakhand - An ancient temple on a hill top dedicated to Goddess Brahmari
KotBrahmari Temple is also a popular temple which is situated on a hill top enclosing by a fort. The ancient tales relate this old temple to Adi Guru Shankaracharya and it is said that he spent some of his days in the temple while travelling across the Garhwal region. The main deity of this shrine is Goddess Brahmari and the unique thing is that the deity is facing towards north direction and the prayers are offered from the south direction of the temple. A grand fair is organized here in the month of August every year during which the idol is taken out of the premises and a huge and colorful procession is carried out accompanied with various celebrations all across the region.
