Arikamedu is the famous historical site located only at a drive of 20 kms from the Pondicherry. Arikamedu was declared as the foremost trading center of Indo-Romans because in few excavations, researchers got many remnants like Roman coins, wine jars, etc, having resemblance to Roman culture. Therefore, this hotspot has the historical background related to an era of 2^nd century BC. But at present, the site is not in a very good condition as we can see only erect walls standing and also a mission house. But then also, it is the place to calm your curiosity to know more about Pondicherry!!!
