If you have sufficient time to spend for the excursions around Kovalam, do visit the enchanting marine village of Vizhinjam. Apart from a heart- throbbing ambience and scenic locales, it is famous for its exclusive marine aquarium that houses a wide array of colourful fishes, turtles etc for the delight of the visitors especially the kids. One of the major highlight of the aquarium is the image pearl production where you can by unusual pearl images of various God and Goddesses. Adding this, there is also a famous Cave Temple of the 18^th century that houses significantly carved idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and is visited by a number of tourists every year.
