Nestled at the foothills of the Velli Hills, it is a must visit historical attraction in the beach town of Kovalam. The palace is renowned for its exquisite wood work that aptly showcases the artistic architecture of the state of Kerala. This splendid palace was built in the 14th century and was called as Darpakulangara and later in the 18th century, it was redesigned to serve as the residence of the rulers of Travancore. It now houses some of the relics of the bygone era having historical significance.
