Submerged Shivlinga, Gangotri, Uttarakhand - A naturally formed rock shivalinga

Submerged Shivlinga is a major attraction in Gangotri and is seen only during the winters. It is a naturally formed rock shivalinga which is submerged in the River Bhairathi. The mythological legends state that it is the place where Lord Shiva sat and received Ganges in his matted locks. When in winters, the level of water decreases, this shivalinga can be easily seen and presents a mystical sight for the visitors.
