Double Decker Living Root Bridge, Cherrapunji, Meghalaya - A wonderful root bridge
A root bridge located in the Tyrna village is among the foremost attraction in Cherrapunji. Also known as Ficus Elastica, this wonderful bridge is made using Indian rubber tree and presents an unusual example of bio-engineering. It is a two tier bridge which is about 100 feet long and has a capacity of carrying 50 people at one point of time. Constructed on the Umshiang River, the bridge gets stronger with every passing day and is a must visit attraction in the town.
