Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple, Kurukshetra, Haryana - A famous mythological place where Pandavas prayed to Lord Shiva to get victory in the battle of Mahabharata.

Located near Thaneshwar, this temple holds a historical significance. As per legendry tales, it is believed that at this place, Pandavas prayed to Lord Shiva in order to seek his blessings for their victory in the war of Mahabharata. Adjoining the temple, there is a holy water tank having great healing properties. It is believed that after taking a few drops of the sacred water of this tank, King Banasura got rid of his long term leprosy. The main shrine of the temple houses an ancient Shiva Linga and is a major religious destination in Kurukshetra.
