The city of Jabalpur is located on the holy banks of River Narmada and on one end of this river, the Gwarighat is located. This ghat mainly serves as a place for doing after death rituals of Hindus and there are various Hindu temples situated on this ghat. There are also several ghats on the other ends of the river such as Tilwara Ghat and Jelehri Ghat.
