About Jalandhar
Located in the Jalandhar district of the state of Punjab, Jalandhar is a historical city and an interesting place to be visited by the tourist all across the country. Jalandhar is an agricultural land that gets watered by the two important rivers of the region namely Satluj and Beas. Known for its multitude of industries and handlooms, Jalandhar is an ancient city with flair of modernity. As a commercial capital of India, Jalandhar is the major producer of various handloom items, leather goods, electric appliances, sewing machines and sport equipments. It was also the capital of the state of Punjab until Chandigarh was built in 1953.The city is dotted with several cultural and religious attractions that form an integral part of this cultural and historical town of India. The most popular historical monument in the city is the Mausoleum of ImanNasir and the fort at Phillaur which was a strategic stronghold of Raja Ranjit Singh.
