Best Season & Best time to visit Gangtok

Gangtok features a monsoon-influenced subtropical highland climate. Gangtok enjoys a neither-hot-nor-too-cold climate throughout the year. The climate here in Gangtok is a gentle, moderate climate. Gangtok has five seasons: summer, monsoons, autumn, winter, and spring.

 

The summer month falls between March and June and the temperature during this time is an average maximum of 22°C. During summer, the sun shines throughout in Gangtok.

 

The winter season is in between December to February when the temperature is at an average of minimum of 4°C. The days are too cold during January and the place may observe a snow fall.

 

From July to September are the monsoon season and the place observe intense rainfalls which cause several landslides that blocks the road. During spring and autumn, the weather is generally sunny and mild. Gangtok is often enveloped in fog during the monsoon and winter months. Avoid visiting the city during the rainy season, as it may cause communication problems.

 

The best period to visit is September to June. The weather during this period is pleasant and the city can be visited nicely.
