Being renowned as the first ‘Swadeshi Movement’ steel plant of India, it is a famous attraction in Bokaro. It is also the 14^th integrated public sector steel plant in India which was established with the help of Soviet and then got merged with the Steel Authority of India Limited, SAIL. It houses 5 blast furnaces presently among which the first one was begun on 2^nd October 1972. The plant produced various products like hot rolled coils, hot rolled sheets, hot rolled plates, cold roll coils and sheets etc.
