About Vadodara
Baroda or Vadodara is a famous city in the state of Gujarat and was the capital of the Gaekwad state in the earlier times. Situated at the banks of River Vishwamitri, Baroda was once a princely state before the Independence. The archeological remains found out at the river Vishwamitri stated that this town was dated back to 2000 years ago and was known as Ankottaka due to a grove of Akota trees found near the settlement. After travelling a short distance in the east of it, a thick forest of banyan or vad trees was found and the region was referred as Vadapadraka that later changed into Vadodara means the stomach of a banyan tree. And during the British rule this name finally degenerated into Baroda.
