Best Season & Best time to visit Thekkady

Thekkady lies in a tropical region; hence the climate here is moderate all round the year. But the best time to visit the place is from September to March. This time is indeed perfect for sightseeing and spotting migratory birds along the lakeside.

In summers, especially in the months of March to May, the temperature can vary up to 36 degree C which is quite hot and is not considered suitable to explore through the city.

In winters, the months from October to February are quite cool and are the best months to plan a trip to Thekkady. This is the time when the temperature is neither too hot nor too cold and hence is ideal for sightseeing and enjoying other activities in the city. During this time, a number of fairs are also organized in the city that add to its charm and make the city lively and vibrant.

During the months from June to September, the monsoon season gets started resulting into heavy rainfalls which can hinder your enjoyment in the city. There can be unexpected landslides and thus this time is avoided for visiting Thekkady.
