Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra is a renowned cultural institution which is named after the saint SrimantaSankardeva who brought Vaishnavism to the region. The institute houses an art gallery, a museum, a theatre and a Vaishnava Temple from where the tourists can learn about the life and culture of the people of Assam. The main target of the institute is to develop, promote, preserve and restore the rich cultural heritage of the various tribes and communities associated with the state. One of the prominent attractions here is an artificial village which resembles the atmosphere of a traditional Assamese village. Moreover it also houses the SahityaBhavan Library and Lalit Kala Bhavan where several workshops and exhibitions are organized for the visitors.
