KarumadiKuttan, Alleppey, Kerala - An ancient Buddhist site

Just 3 km from the main city of Alleppey, there is a small village named Karumadi which was an ancient Buddhist site. Today, a number of devotees flock to the village to see the grand black granite structure of Lord Buddha which is known as Karumadi Kuttan. Built during 9^th and 10^th century, the statue serves as a reminder of remnants of Buddhist. Nowadays, a shrine has been constructed surrounding the statue to protect it from any kind of damage from outer sources.
