Constructed by the 12th reincarnate of TsonaGontse Rinpoche, the Bomdila Monastery is one of the most famous religious attractions in Bomdila. Serving as an abode of several Buddhist monks and lamas, it got inaugurated in 1965 and looks akin to the TsonaGontse Monastery located in South Tibet. It belongs to Mahayana Buddhism and is also known as the GentseGadenRabgyel Ling Monastery. The monastery building houses a huge prayer hall which was blessed by the guardian spirit of 14th Dalai Lama in 1997. In addition, there is also a beautiful Buddha Temple that attracts the tourists.
