Palampur, an idyllic hill town is located amidst the beautiful Kangra Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Palampur derives its name from the word ‘Pulum’ which refers to abundance of water and plenty of criss -crossed rivers and brooks truly define this name. This quaint little town was discovered in the 19th century when the British were looking for a suitable land for planting tea bushes. And the gentle slopes and plenty of water sources of Palampur proved to be a perfect ambience for the cultivation of superior quality of tea. Today, the town is a major producer of fresh tea leaves and is popularly referred as the ‘Tea Capital of India’.
